Check the model and materials.
Read the care instructions for the collectable and the labels on your paint, primer and tools. Choose products appropriate for the model's material and follow their handling and ventilation instructions.
Plan a small palette.
Pick a main colour, a supporting colour and an accent. Keep a reference nearby so you can return to the same idea across different sessions.
Work in manageable stages.
Prepare the surface as directed, apply the recommended primer where appropriate and let each stage dry as instructed. Practise brush control on an inconspicuous area before tackling the smallest details.
Keep the workbench organised.
Protect your surface, provide good lighting and keep hobby materials away from food and drinks. Follow age restrictions and safety instructions for each tool and material.
